Myth: ShowMojo Has Weak Fraud Protection
Rumors abound about our fraud protection, including specific untruths about ShowMojo’s credit card verification and scam detection features. Here’s the truth you need to know.
We use Experian’s Passive Authentication, which is a powerful, multi-layered identity verification process for consumers applying for rental housing.
Passive Authentication is paired with customizable pre-showing questionnaires to help flag suspicious prospects.
We also deploy internal tools, including:
- A flagging system that analyzes lead activity and automatically blocks fraud
- AI-powered fraud detection working behind the scenes
- A global fraudster database
Details on these internal tools remain confidential to avoid tipping off the scammers.

Batteries: Battery life varies by type and brand. We recommend using brand-new alkaline Duracell batteries (the standard copper top).
Access codes: We support both gate access and static codes. MojoBox and the MojoLock allow permanent codes for repeat vendors, residents, and others. And you can send gate codes via text message after the showing is confirmed.
Myth: ShowMojo Lacks Self-Showing Flexibility
Another circulating myth is that ShowMojo only supports one kind of showing: the fully automated, prospect-on-their-own style.
